Pattachitra – Ancient Art of Odisha

This art form originated during 10th-12th century and has been passed from one generation to the other. About two thousand years old, the modern form of the art of Pattachitra originated in DandaSahi and Raghurajpur UNESCO heritage village in Odisha and was carried on over the generations.

What gives Pattachitra an edge over other art form is the use of natural colours and the ancient method of preparation. Preparing these colours take about a month, while the canvas, unique in itself, takes about a week.
