This beautifully hand-painted Nabagunjara Pattachitra Painting is brought to you from the Crafts village of "Dandasahi" in Puri, Odisha, India. This Traditionally-made Pattachitra Painting is an outcome of weeks, sometimes even months, of collective labor of the Artist’s family.

It comes with the loving touch of National Award-winning Pattachitra Artist, Guru Shree Bibhu Maharana. Made with utmost devotion towards this Art form to bring Heritage to your Home, this Centuries-old Craft is alive because of patrons like YOU. When you purchase this, you don't just own a piece of decor; but also positively contribute to the continuation of a timeless legacy.

We make sure the product is 100% Authentic and Traditionally made. Pattachitra Paintings are typically depictions of mythological stories, incidents, themes, Gods and Goddesses, Nature, etc. Pattachitra style Paintings are also used to create various kinds of utilitarian products such as Sarees, Dupattas, Wall Plates, etc.

SUSTAINABLY MADE:
Choosing a Handicraft is always sustainable; almost all the raw materials are locally-sourced. Starting from the preparation of “Patti” (the Handmade cloth canvas used for Pattachitra Paintings), which is mostly prepared by the women of the family using their old cotton sarees; to the preparation of Natural Colors, extracted from various coloured stones found in the mining areas across Odisha; Pattachitra Paintings demand involvement of all the family members, and multiple resources.

Unlike mass-produced factory-made goods, which are manufactured at an industrial scale, Pattachitra Paintings take a few weeks to several months to get completed. Once the Artist conceptualizes a story of depict, they follow a total of 24 steps before giving it the final touch. That’s when you get to see THIS complete Pattachitra Painting.

ETHICALLY SOURCED:

We work directly with Artisans with a vision to empower them and preserve their art forms. We strongly believe in NEVER BARGAINING with Artisans. They deserve THAT and much more. With every product you purchase, we share a tag that tells you the story of the Artisan and also the art form. Just to tell you that it was not made by someone anonymous.
