It comes from Raghurajpur and neighbouring Danda Sahi — villages just outside Puri where this craft was never revived for tourism; it simply never stopped.

The artisan Kesab Maharana works the traditional way, start to finish — modelling, layering, and painting himself. In a village where nearly every home has a craftsperson in it, his focus on getting the fine detail right is its own quiet reputation.
